*Pneuma: Luke 24, Acts 2.
Luke 24:13–32 (MSG)
13–16 That same day two of them were walking to the village Emmaus, about seven miles out of Jerusalem. They were deep in conversation, going over all these things that had happened. In the middle of their talk and questions, Jesus came up and walked along with them. But they were not able to recognize who he was.
17–18 He asked, “What’s this you’re discussing so intently as you walk along?”
They just stood there, long-faced, like they had lost their best friend. Then one of them, his name was Cleopas, said, “Are you the only one in Jerusalem who hasn’t heard what’s happened during the last few days?”
19–24 He said, “What has happened?”
They said, “The things that happened to Jesus the Nazarene. He was a man of God, a prophet, dynamic in work and word, blessed by both God and all the people. Then our high priests and leaders betrayed him, got him sentenced to death, and crucified him. And we had our hopes up that he was the One, the One about to deliver Israel. And it is now the third day since it happened. But now some of our women have completely confused us. Early this morning they were at the tomb and couldn’t find his body. They came back with the story that they had seen a vision of angels who said he was alive. Some of our friends went off to the tomb to check and found it empty just as the women said, but they didn’t see Jesus.”
25–27 Then he said to them, “So thick-headed! So slow-hearted! Why can’t you simply believe all that the prophets said? Don’t you see that these things had to happen, that the Messiah had to suffer and only then enter into his glory?” Then he started at the beginning, with the Books of Moses, and went on through all the Prophets, pointing out everything in the Scriptures that referred to him.
28–31 They came to the edge of the village where they were headed. He acted as if he were going on but they pressed him: “Stay and have supper with us. It’s nearly evening; the day is done.” So he went in with them. And here is what happened: He sat down at the table with them. Taking the bread, he blessed and broke and gave it to them. At that moment, open-eyed, wide-eyed, they recognized him. And then he disappeared.
32 Back and forth they talked. “Didn’t we feel on fire as he conversed with us on the road, as he opened up the Scriptures for us?”

“Seven Miles To a New Reality”
In this SERIES which is the lead up to the coming of the Holy Spirit we have been looking at and realizing that there was a significant purpose in the time between the ressurection and the coming of the HS that we see there is a purpose behind these days.
God is unhurried. Dont skip breakfast, He’s got all the time in the world. And last week. Acts one he tells them to not just go and do it all but to wait≥
and here is a significant reason why Jesus didnt ascend straight away: There was still much to teach the disciples: There was One thing the disciples needed , which was one of the main reasons Jesus between the resurrection and the day of pentecost
There was still some unfinished business - and Jesus shows up on the scene to ensure they get what they need
and hat they needed was a brand new reality - In their belief, In their Mission, In their minds: and we SEE this HAPPEN on the EMMAUS road.
JESUS SHOWS UP and GIVES THEM WHAT IT WAS THAT THEY NEEDED:
a change up in their thinking ….. But the truth is this: Old habits die hard.
Old ways of thinking do as well.
IT OFTEN TAKES GOD SHOWING UP IN YOUR LIFE IN A POWERFUL AND SUPERNATURAL WAY FOR YOU TO ENCOUNTER A NEW REALITY.
WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT SHOWS UP IN YOUR LIFE: ALL THE FORMER THINGS FADE AWAY, AND A NEW REALITY IS OPENED UP TO YOU BECAUSE OF THE REVELATION POWER OF JESUS AT WORK IN YOU.
You can see they didn’t have the new and true reality yet in the question they asked him:
Jesus wasn’t going to restore the kingdoms to Israel. He was bringing about salvation and a new kingdom to EVERYONE.
The disciples needed a NEW PERSPECTIVE
YOU NEED A NEW PERSPECTIVE
WE ALL NEED A NEW PERSPECTIVE: Jesus stays and apears to them so that he can do in them what they needed

WHAT JESUS DID IN THE DISCIPLES, THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL DO IN YOU. IN ME.

and according to JESUS- EVEN GREATER. Because he said in JOHN: it will be to your advantage

7 Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.
we dont have a physical JEsus in our lives. We have the HOLY SPIRIT with us at all times. Do we even realize how powerful that is?
**i heard this one time and it changed me: When we get to heaven,
We’lll ask Moses - what was it like to see God move like that - waters part. Water coming out of a rock,m a clooud, fire....we’ll ask the DISCIPLES: what was it like to have JESUS with you every day… and you know what they will probably say back?
What was it like to have the holy spirit every day? Living in your actual BODY as a temple?
What Jesus did in the disciples, God, through the outpouring of the HOLY SPIRIT and his transformative power in us WILL DO IN US WHAT WE SEE JESUS DOING IN TH DISCIPLES.
Isn’t that amazing?
Did you know that?
Thats a promise isn’t it?
You should grab a hold of that
That could find its way into your life
we all need that don’t we?
How do you get a new perspective?
You encounter THE RISEN LORD, and He gives you a new perspective
When we encounter the Holy Spirit, He gives us a new perspective.
DRAW OUT THE PASSAGE:
*The road to Emmaus is a direct parallel to what GOD does in us.
Jesus walking seven miles with us….. Its so similary to you and me.
We often say things like that don’t we?
“God how can you not know what’s going on in my life. In this world. Aren’t you aware of how messed p and hard and horrible this is. God are you even watching or noticing - do you care?”
But think about this
I dont know how many times these two did this journey north-west from Jerusalem. But I want to think, im lead to think that it was pretty often. Probably a normal journey. They probably knew it back to front which is why they were gasbagging and chatting and talking “so intently” the whole time because they didnt need to watch for road signs or directions.
It was a regular Journey. And God shows up.
I wonder if you believe that in your ordinary every day life, coming and going, here and there… this pick up to that drop off… that God would be there in the midst?
when your driving that same way up i-95 to that place in Jacksonville, or Daytona or Orlando.
God shows up, Gloriously, Miracously, in the most ordinary of circumstances.
But check this out: He asks them, what is it you are trying to work out, what are you talking about?
(this to me says: no matter what it is, Jesus - God - The Holy Spirit cares about it. And wants to talk to you about it
What are you facing right now. What are you talking to someone else about… that you could JUST Talk to GOD about?
This is the POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT in our lives if we will engage our minds and our hearts and our lives in this way - We will make extraordinary bounds!
what an amazing possibility our lives can be opened up to!)
APPLICATION TO OUR LIVES:
What happens when we get transformed by the HOLY SPIRIT -

Today is different - because There is a totally new paradigm for us, in Christ, we are a NEW creation. Which means that our reality has completely shifted.
A dead person can do nothing.
The bible says that i was dead, but NOW i am alive.

A new attitude. Mindset
Opinions change.
We think differently because HE has come
25 “These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
What Jesus did in the disciples, The Holy Spirit will do in me.
Jesus said of the Holy SPIRIT: hes going to give you a new way to think.
A complete overhaul to think and rememeber the truth that ive said to you
The words that have come
you will remember them.
But you will now be a different thinker.
I dont think like i used to. I used to think very one dimensionally

the destination has changed.
The final PORT is no longer one thats away from God, but one that is WHERE GOD IS.
WE get a CITIZENSHIP thats not of this world.
NOTES:
THE KINGDOM THATS COMING IS NOT NATIONAL, it’s MULTI-National.
Cultural crossings
Languages coming together
A true reunion of the nations.
A gathering of.
Takes a new perspective to see that.
THE KINGDOM COMING is gradual not instantaneous
THE KINGDOM is not political, it’s spiritual.
Two sides of a bad coin;
One side says politics is the answer
The other side says nothing is an answer
JESUS Christ is the answer. The gospel is the answer answer and by the power of the Holy Spirit - we can
